Recently, the Provincial Department of Water Resources and the Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment have announced the results of the safety guarantee compliance assessment of centralized drinking water sources at and above the county level for the year 2024.

Among the 84 centralized drinking water sources at and above the county level across the province, 77 were rated excellent in the assessment. The two drinking water sources, Xikou Reservoir and Shangzhang - Gexizhang Reservoir in Xiangshan County, have both been rated excellent in the assessment. 

The safety assessment of drinking water sources is an important fundamental task for safeguarding people's well - being. This assessment focused on four aspects, namely the construction of water quantity safety, the guarantee of water quality safety, the improvement of monitoring capabilities, and the establishment of management systems. Through a systematic assessment with multiple dimensions and steps, a scientific and quantitative comprehensive assessment result was finally obtained.

In recent years, our county has adhered to the principle of "prevention first, prevention and control combination". It has strictly demarcated water source protection areas, implemented ecological restoration projects, promoted the treatment of agricultural non - point source pollution, and strengthened the supervision of industrial sewage discharge. By doing so, it reduces the entry of pollutants into water bodies from the source, ensuring the continuous improvement of the ecological environment of water sources.
