May 13 to June 12 is Zhejiang Energy Conservation Publicity Month. On the 13th, the reporter learned from the launch ceremony of Zhejiang Energy Conservation Publicity Month in 2024 that the energy consumption of 10,000 yuan GDP in Zhejiang Province in 2023 was 0.4 tons of standard coal, down 3.5% year-on-year, and the decline reached a new high of the "14th Five-Year Plan". This year, we will strive to reduce the energy intensity of the province by more than 2.5% year-on-year, to promote the green and low-carbon transformation of the economy and society constantly.

“Last year, Zhejiang accounted for 5.4 percent of the country's total energy consumption and generating 6.5 percent of China’s GDP, " said the person in charge of Zhejiang Energy Bureau. Energy conservation is the primary energy source. That’s why we should continue to popularize the concept of green development and promote the formation of simple and moderate production and life styles. From the perspective of energy supply, the proportion of renewable energy installed in Zhejiang last year exceeded coal power for the first time, but the proportion of renewable energy generation needs increasing. From where industrial structure stands, the tertiary industry and green low-carbon industry still need further development efforts.

How to get energy intensity come down? Since non-fossil energy has the green attribute of zero carbon emission, it is deducted in the national energy intensity assessment. Therefore, in terms of energy structure optimization, Zhejiang should accelerate the development and consumption of non-fossil energy. It is necessary to comprehensively promote the development of wind power in the sea area under provincial management, innovatively promote the development of photovoltaic, and achieve full coverage of green power certificate issuance in the province wide. Meanwhile, the province makes full use of the existing external power channels, actively purchase more southwest hydropower, northwest wind power, and increase the proportion of renewable electricity in the temporary purchase of electricity between provinces.

In addition to providing green electricity, make sure to use green electricity. Zhejiang has implemented the renewable energy consumption commitment system for new projects, explored the non-fossil energy consumption budget management mechanism for key energy-using enterprises, steadily increased the consumption proportion of green electricity and green certificates, and realized the transformation of energy sources to "green".

In terms of industrial structure transformation, Zhejiang has carried out special actions for energy conservation and carbon reduction by field and industry. At present, our province has developed a reserve list of energy saving and carbon reduction transformation and energy use equipment renewal projects. On the one hand, it has completed energy efficiency diagnosis work for more than 1,000 enterprises in key industries. On the other hand, the energy sector is promoting large-scale equipment renewal, and all equipment included in the elimination catalog or not meeting energy efficiency standards will be eliminated.  

This year, Zhejiang aims to guarantee more than 20 million tons of new project energy consumption and the new energy consumption indicators supporting private enterprises not less than 70% to promote the optimization and adjustment of industrial structure.
