The other day, Xiangshan Eastern Bays were rated as a provincial beautiful bay，according to the list of the second batch of provincial beautiful bays in our province announced by Zhejiang Provincial Beautiful Bay Office.
In recent years, our county has relied on the unique natural ecosystem of mountains, seas, bays, beaches and islands, continuously promoted the construction of ecological coastal belts, and integrated many elements such as ecology, culture and tourism, sports, and health to construct high-quality bay space. Xiangshan Eastern Bays, with the four-exact mode of precise governance, accurate protection, exquisite creation and meticulous supervision, has become a distinctively recognizable new demonstration of beautiful bays.
To begin with, Xiangshan has carried out comprehensive improvement of marine pollution to achieve clear water and clean beach. Since the creation of beautiful bays, our county has insisted on giving priority to legislation to provide legal guarantee for the management and protection of marine biological resources and habitats. Jiushan Islands have become the first nature reserve with one area, one law in the country. Meanwhile, Xiangshan has adhered vvvh to the overall planning of land and sea, the linkage of rivers and sea, and multiple measures to achieve dynamic supervision of the "one map" of sea discharge outlets. The water quality compliance rates of the cross-sections of rivers flowing into the sea and the sewage outlets into the sea have both reached 100%.
In addition, Xiangshan has protecte and rejuvenated ecological resources to bring about a situation where fish swim freely and seagulls hover in groups. Xiangshan is fully committed to building the first marine biodiversity conservation practice site in China. It has implemented the rescue and restoration work of the Chinese Crested Tern population and has become the world's largest incubation and breeding base for Chinese Crested Terns. In 2024, the highest number of Chinese Crested Terns monitored in Jushan Islands reached 109, setting a new global observation record again. The construction of the national-level marine ranch demonstration area in Yushan Islands has been carried out. The largest community of Leptogorgia cervicornis in the province has been discovered, refreshing the northernmost distribution record of reef-building corals in China.
Furthermore, Xiangshan has shaped the brand of beautiful bays and achieve the harmony between humans and the sea. For instance, it has builded a 3.1-kilometer coastal pedestrian boardwalk, restore 1 kilometer of sandy coastline and 150,000 cubic meters of beach, implemented the transformation and upgrading of coastal facilities in Songlan Mountain and Chinese Fishing Village, builded "Ala de Sea", the largest coastal water park in East China, promoted the empowerment of marine sports and tourism by "Asian Games +", holded nearly 100 domestic and foreign events and coastal activities and established and operated the first Marine Two Mountains Cooperative in Zhejiang Province, selected into the provincial list of the best practices for common prosperity.
Ultimately, long-term and intelligent governance through land-sea coordination to create a Smart Bay, including the construction of a Digital Bird Island intelligent monitoring system, the establishment of a Net Zero Carbon Wisdom bird-watching house, and the realization of digital and intelligent management of rare birds and the establishment of a 3-hour and 10-minute intelligent forecasting system for marine data to achieve refined supervision and prediction of the bay. Centering on the goal of full-chain governance, our county, on the basis of implementing the maritime sanitation system, has innovatively applied the remote sensing with AI technology to construct an air-space-earth integrated intelligent supervision system for the bay, forming a full-process control and multi-department coordination mechanism for problem discovery, feedback, rectification, and early warning.
